Stop Foreclosure - Five Options You Need To Know

You'll feel better when you know your options.

Stop! Before you think that all is lost and that you don't have a chance, take a deep breath and keep reading. You may have several options.

There are two things that you must know and understand about stopping, avoiding, and preventing mortgage foreclosure.

First, every option leads to paying your mortgage lender one way or another. This is because the plain, honest truth is that there is really only one way to stop, avoid, or prevent foreclosure and that is to pay your mortgage lender. (Do not believe anyone who says that you can keep your house and not pay your mortgage lender).

But you may have several options on how to pay your lender even if you think that you can't pay.

In stopping, avoiding, or preventing foreclosure, you may:
       - Talk With Your Mortgage Lender (They can help in a number of ways.)
       - Refinance Your Existing Mortgage
       - File Bankruptcy (either chapter 7 or chapter 13)
       - Sell or Convey Your House
       - Delay Foreclosure

Each option has good and bad points. For more information, click on these topics:
       - Stop Foreclosure
       - Avoid Foreclosure
       - Loss Mitigation
       - Short Sale
       - Deed In Lieu Of Foreclosure
       - Foreclosure Loan or Sell Your Home
       - Bankruptcy

The second thing you must know and understand is not every option is available in every situation. An option that works well for one person may not work at all for you, and by the same token, an option that works for you may not work for someone else. This is because the options to stop, avoid, or prevent foreclosure are dependent on a person's situation. To learn more about what options you have in your situation, see stop foreclosure options.
